My mom has a 2002 T-bird that is a rocket waiting for an accident to happen. She has had it looked at several times both on warranty and now off for the unexpected acceleration problems. The idler air control valve was replaced and it seemed to help but later the problem came back again. She steps on the brake and it accelerates. This has also happened to me twice while driving my nephew on his Senior Prom night. At first we thought it was not moving our feet off the accelerator but we know we have deliberately placed our feet on the brake clear of the accelerator. Please contact us if you have had the same problem.
Note: She has taken it to Amador Ford 2995, Folsom Lake Ford 2009 and now an independent auto repair shop. Ford continues to say they are not able to reproduce the problem and now she does not get phone calls back from Folsom Lake Ford, or Big Valley Ford service managers.
Update from Aug 19, 2009: She just received the car back from an independent repair shop. They could not reproduce the problem and with this economy decided not to purchase the black box for her to try. We are really at a loss as to what to do short of trading in the car on a new non ford product! Any ideas please send right away.
