- Fuel Filter Or Fuel Pressure Regulator - Does it smell like gasoline too? If so, it may be your fuel pressure regulator (located between your fuel filter and engine block). It fixed the stalling on my '91 Ford Tempo. Hope this helps. Approx. $219 to get fixed at a mechanic. Or you can look for the part at a car wrecker seeing as the fuel pressure regulator doesn't seem to be a common problem (you will need a set of Allan keys to get the part out). Also fuel filters should be changed every 2 years, so if that has been changed recently try that. Cost: $10 (new) at any car parts place, really easy to install.

So I get this car for my first car. By the way the car is the same age as me! Well in July my car stalls on me for the first time! Then it didnt do it for a while. Then it starts stalling again. So I bring it in...well that didnt help. So then my brakes go out. Then going to work my car stalls at a red light (use to it) but then the light turns green and I am sitting there trying to get it started...but it finally goes. Had two mechanics look at it this time....cant find what is making it stall. So now I am buying a new car because that one has given me so many problems! Plus, what is up with not having any cup holders!
