The contact owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. While driving 60 mph, the steering assist fault service required message illuminated and the steering wheel seized. The steering wheel became extremely difficult to maneuver. In addition, the vehicle was restarted and returned to normal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering rack assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.
Was driving down the road at 60mph and my vehicle shut off. Couldn't hardly push the brake in or move my steering wheel. Had to quickly put in park to start vehicle back up. Popped up on dash. "vehicle not in park".
4-6-14 upon starting the vehicle and shifting into drive position, there was no available steering. An alert message "service advanced track" appeared several attempts to re-start had no effect vehicle towed to local Ford dealership for repair 4-9-14 dealer advised problem diagnosed as a "loose connection"......problem solved 4-10-14 as I was driving out of dealer's lot the steering problem re-occurred.....I informed dealer and left vehicle 4-11-14 vehicle remains with dealer stoneham motor company 185 main St stoneham MA 02180 781-438-0490
