I own a low mileage 2013 Ford Taurus with only 33,000 miles. I am going on my third windshield!!! This is ridiculous. Any little pebble that hits it will cause it to CRACK. I have a 2003 Cadillac CTS with 200,000 miles that his nicks and chips all over and it doesn't have a single crack. How can a mint condition windshield not be able to sustain the smallest hit?
I'm so sad and disappointed with the windshields for these cars. By the way, all of the windshields I've purchased are FORD OEM - no aftermarket. As a car guy and consumer, I beyond disappointed with Ford in regards to this ridiculous problem.
All of a sudden, with no reason, the windshield got cracked. and later on because of a small stone on the highway, it got cracked easily in a different location.
I had just bought this car used and within a couple of months the OEM windshield cracked. So I promptly replaced the windshield. Within a couple of months the windshield cracked again! This time it happened while I was at work - on a hot day, when an early summer shower came through the area. at first I thought that maybe our landscapers short a rock out of a mower - but when I went to complain it ended up that the landscapers hadn't come for a couple of days. My car sits within a gated area so there is little chance that it was due to any other outside forces - other than poorly designed windshields. I can't presume that this makes for a very safe windshield.

This is the 3rd windshield I've had to replace in this car. All were caused from another vehicle flinging a rock. Could it be the aerodynamic shape of the car?

We have a fleet of vehicles but the Taurus has been the worst with windshield replacements. We have had to replace 12 windshields out of 34 in the fleet.

windshield is fine when i parked it at work...get to parking lot after work and find cracked windshield ( started at bottom dead center under retaining rubber and about a foot straight up toward rear view mirror...I take to safelite auto glass and guy there says this is a ford cronic problem ( stress from factory installation and thin glass ) he says they have ford glass 6 times a week during the summer months .... same thing center at bottom always where it starts. So i paid 100.00 deductable thru insurance for repair....ford knows about this problem and will not recall windshields. I went by ford dealership and showed them and salesman tells me " we have few crack here on the lots every summer when its hot out ". So take warning if you live in a hot area such as a desert where it gets tripple digit heat expect a crack......good luck
