Good afternoon, I am writing this regarding an issue to the power steering. This issue is an ongoing danger to myself and drivers around me. The steering locks up an the wheel becomes very still and hard to turn. This issue has been determined by a local dealership. There have been no warning lamps to signal the issue which makes it more dangerous due to no warning prior to when the issue started. After doing some research, I have found that similar vehicles to mine have a recall. The same vehicles (2013 taurus) manufactured in Chicago between September 7, 2010- February 28, 2012 have the same failed components as mine except they are recalled and mine is not.
The steering assist on my Ford Taurus sho police interceptor has failed. It has not been active for a while now. I have continued to drive the vehicle under these conditions despite the inconvenience it causes me. I am almost 45 years old. The wear this puts on my body, it's a shame. I fractured an elbow in an unrelated incident a couple years before I purchased this vehicle. It required a complete replacement with an implant. The pushing and pulling I've put on this has shortened the life of the implant. That I am with no doubt. But when this is your means to work, you have no choice but to adapt. Two months ago, I chose another vehicle to drive rather than to repair this one and "hope" for a recall. The problem my car has is identical to those recalled. The pictures I have added shows no doubt of that. I will not pay a cent to any dealership that represents a company that has chosen negligence over safety. It's hard to believe that manufacturers are given a choice in situations like this. A vehicle for the foundation that provides the public with safety and well being at that. I hope whoever reads this is able to take something away from it. Hopefully, it will push somebody in a different direction when time comes to purchase a new car that they're loved ones will be riding in. Maybe if a number of people have had enough of manufacturer's trying to compensate their losses by picking and choosing which cars to fix while making the average Joe pay out of pocket five times the actual cost of the repair, group together and push back against this dishonest entity.. a single voice, can be heard by a group of people that are able to do the right thing. For the people. By the people.
Power steering (electrical system for this car) does not work on startup. Takes about 5 seconds to activate. Havenot experienced this on the road (yet). Check of outstanding recall repairs when entering VIN # in your webpage, shows no outstanding repairs. Howevver, I bought this vehicle with 0 miles and havenot had this repair done (I never got a recall notice). this malfunction has happened reeatedly in the last 3 weeks.
The steering suddenly became difficult to operate at 70 MPH. I stopped and turned the car off then turned it back on. Two warnings appeared on my dash, "Service Power Steering Now" & "Service AdvanceTrac." The turn signals also stopped working at this point. This vehicle is available for inspection. The component has not been inspected or taken to the local dealer. There were no symptoms prior to the failure

The power steering system in my 2013 Ford Taurus has failed. I took it to the shop and they informed me of multiple recalls on this make and model for the power steering, but it doesn't appear as though my personal VIN was recalled. Am I still eligible for a recall repair?

My power steering went out. It said power steering assist fault. And I could not turn my wheel. Fortunately I was parked. I just could not turn the wheel to move. I turned the car off and back on again and the warning went away and I could move the wheel again. Worried it will happen again while in motion.
Since second year when I brought the vehicle, some times I tuned off, then fails to stars, thereafter few hours turned on, and steering loss of power and impossible to turn, suddenly turned off and on, the car and problem solve (4 times) thru the years, and one time when I was driving code pops up saying power assist fault, then disappear. Approximately 2 months ago, I arrived at one location near by Lincoln Ford of santa monica, my son, turned off the vehicle and did not turned on, the vehicle overnight at that location, next following day we turned in the dealer above noted. After few days they said this serial number is not cover by the recall, only few other same, year and same model but not this one is cover by the recall, of the power steering sensor. They were unable to load the codes of the vehicle, said they need to load the computer data. Now after 2 months that my car is sitting in the driveway, I will tuned in theodore robinson dealer in the city of costa mesa 04/13/2021. Please include this in the recall, same year, same model, same sensor vehicles are included. What is the difference" if they are the same components. Why some vehicles with the exactly same components are covered by the recall and others not????????????? please this is an expense repair, why we have to paid for a malfunctioning part that cause us lost of our time, , money and on top we have to pay?"
Power steering went out completely without warning. Very dangerous others have the same issue. It seems to be due to heat causing electric assist steering to fail. Ford design the electric assist motor to sit directly behind the catalytic converter.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated the power steering warning light illuminated intermittently prior to the vehicle losing power steering functionality. The contact stated that he would restart the vehicle whenever the power steering warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that he waited approximately 5 minutes as instructed in the owners manual before the vehicle regained power steering functionality. The contact stated that shortly afterwards the failure recurred. The contact repeated the actions as before and regained power steering while driving home. Bill brandt Ford (8100 brentwood blvd, brentwood, ca 94513, (925) 634-3551) was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 15V340000 (steering) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The manufacturer opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
Power steering intermittently goes out while driving making the steering impossible to turn. When the loss of power steering happens a code pops up saying 'power steering assist fault '
Experienced loss of steering/steering wheel froze up and could not be turned; initially occurred at home in driveway when stationary overnight but getting more frequent and progressively worse. There is a safety recall (15S18, supplements #1, #2 and #3) and a Ford program (15N01) in place regarding this issue but my vehicle was manufactured 11/2012 and Ford says it is not covered by this recall although the problem is the same. I called 2 dealers and did a chat with Ford but was still told "no". so I now have to make a high dollar repair on a component that should be covered. Sending letter to president of Ford Motor Company to complain as well. This is a serious safety issue and Ford needs to widen the dates covered for the recall and reimburse me for the expense they should have covered initially.
The power steering has stopped working making it difficult to maneuver the steering wheel. There is an error message that day power assist fault. There is a recall on 2013 model Ford Taurus over 300,000 for this reason but my VIN number is not listed.
The steering has been getting stiffer and stiffer over the last year or so. There had been recalls on the power steering pump being faulty for the 2013 Taurus; but, my vehicle did not fit into that recall. My car has only 65000 miles. I think that my vehicle may have been overlooked in that recall. It is everytime I drive the car and is getting worse. Don't know the exact date I started noticing it; the date below is not accurate, but, it has being getting worse for a long period of time.
Power steering would go in and out as I hit bumps in the road at first. Now it's out completely and sometimes locks in position without ability to correct for 1 -2 seconds. Recals for this make, model, and year have been issued. My VIN is not supported despite the similar characteristics of the problem as well as the scenario leading up to total failure. I have a green 2013 Ford Taurus sho police interceptor. It was a state highway patrol car from Rhode Island I believe. I purchased the car from Chicago motors. It was delivered to me in Ohio. I didn't even test drive the vehicle. I trusted in Ford. But after the safety issued that's only addressed selectively, I am ashamed to own anything with the name, including my F450. I don't know what kind of discussing greed drives a company to wait for someone to be injured or worse to act on a product that they have already addressed in select vehicles. I will be be fixing this problem as I diagnose the issue and hopefully, im am able to assist others I'm making non costly repairs that are above oem qualifications. If anyone is thinking of buying a Ford product, I suggest they take a look at they're track record for customer can and product reliability. A company that doesn't stand behind their product says the same of them as is does of the vehicle purchased. I will be selling both of my Ford vehicles as I cannot trust either one to be safe or reliable. (3.5 ecoboost motors- known for carbon buildup above valves leading to rough idle and poor performance. Chunks can dislodge and make way in engine and turbos causing catostrophic failures.) (6.0 powerstroke- weak head bolts stretch due to egr clog causing head gasket to give under pressure. Repair typically requires cab removal.) the cost of those two repairs would pay 1/3 of a new car. #homework
HAD THE REAR TOE LINK RECALL PERFORMED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. FINALLY DECIDED TO LOOK AND THE OLD LINKS ARE STILL ON THE CAR. EMAILED PICTURES TO SERVICE ADVISOR EARLY MORNING CALLED A FEW MINS LATER SAID HE GET THEM TO HIS GM MANAGER ASAP. NEVER GOT A RESPONSE DECIDED I'D SWING BY ON MY WAY HOME. ASKED WHAT THE DEAL WAS. SAID THEY HADN'T HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK AT IT YET. [XXX], CAN I AT LEAST HAVE SOMETHING SAYING IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE WITH THESE OLD RECALLED LINKS THEY DENIED THE REQUEST. SAID MAYBE FORD CHANGED THE PART AND IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE. ASKED ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER TO LOOK AT THE LINKS. EXPLAINED THE WELD THAT HOLD THE ROD AND BUSHING TOGETHER IS WHAT'S BREAKING. THE NEW PART HAS NO WELD AND IS ONCE PIECE. SHE SAYS SHE'S NOT SURE BUT IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A NEW PART. 73K MILES OF ROAD GRIME STILL ON IT LOOKING LIKE THE REST OF THE SUSPENSION. WELL I GET HOME AND SHE CALLS ME. SAID I WAS RIGHT THAT IS THE OLD PART AND THE NEW ONE IS SUPPOSE TO BE A ONE PIECE. I SAY GREAT. BUT SHE'S WONDERING WHY THE TECH MIGHT HAVE PENCILED WHIPPED THE SAFETY RECALL OR IF POSSIBLY IT WAS A ERROR PUT MY PAPER WORK CLEARLY HAS NOTES FROM THE TECH STATING TOE LINKS WERE REPLACED AND ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED TO BE IN SPEC AND TEST DROVE CARE AND IS IN SPEC. THEY WANTED ME TO COME IN FIRST THING FRIDAY MORNING BUT I CAN'T MISS MORE WORK DUE TO THERE ERRORS SO SATURDAY IS THE SOONEST SHE SAYS OKAY. A FRIEND TOLD ME TO FILL THIS OUT. I'M NOT SURE WHAT I REALLY EXPECT FROM THIS BUT IF IT SAVES IT FROM HAPPENING TO SOMEONE ELSE THAT DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR. IT CAN SAVE A LIFE.
