My husband and I drove to Antigonish to take part in the 2017 Relay for Life Event at the Oland Centre, St. Francis Xavier University on Friday, March 24th. When we were ready to leave for home, our 2013 Ford Taurus wouldn't start. It started, chugged & quit ... wasn't getting the gas for some reason. I called CAA to have it towed to a garage to be repaired. We spent the night in a hotel & spent a frosty Saturday walking around town waiting for someone to check our car. We hoped for a quick fix so we could get on the road again and head home.
We found out that Ford had 2 recalls on the vehicle ... 1) the fuel delivery module may crack, allowing fuel to leak which may result in a fire (Dec. 2015) 2) a component within the fuel pump electric module (PEM) may overheat causing a loss of electrical power to the fuel pump which will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the royal of a crash. (Sept. 12/16) ... Ford was supposed to have notified the owners, but we never received anything! Canadian tire is going to notify Ford on Monday & hopefully the car will be repaired quickly.
I'm glad my husband and I were together.
Because we were not prepared to stay over at a hotel, we had to buy some essentials. From now on I'm not leaving the house without a bag packed with a change of clothes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, comb, deodorant, razor, shave cream, after shave, a nightdress and slippers ... oh and my pillow! You sure feel scruffy after a couple of days. We had to walk to church and afterwards go down the main street to see what's open. We would have gotten something Saturday if we thought we'd be here till Monday ... thought we'd be heading home by noon or at least by supper time. By then everything was closing.
Time for a Trade? I say ... YES!!!
Bill & I haven't had our medication since Friday!!!
Update: Well, Ford says our vehicle VIN # is not on the recall list! 2013 Ford Taurus is ... but not our 2013 Ford Taurus. Also, the car couldn't been seen till Monday & they would have to order the part.
