Purchased vehicle on 10/06/2022. Within a week noticed surging and /or loss of power. I also smelled buring of some sort. Contacted the dealership and tried to make arrangements for car to be diagnosed and repaired. Codes began to show on the dash. When I took it to be read it showed throttle issues. On 10/18/2022 I was at a complete stop at a stop sign. When I released the brake and touched the gas the car unexpectedly sured at high speed on its own. My vehicle hit another vehicle causing major damage to both cars. It was extremely terrifying having my car take off at a high rate of speed without me in control. This now has caused tremendous hardship financially, Emotionally and I now have legal issues due to this accident that was no fault of my own.

While driving both on a highway ( 55 mph) and a town road (25 mph) the car engine and the whole car shut down and stalled out. I was able to restart the car briefly, both times, to get home. I had to use the emergency break to maneuver off the road to avoid hitting other cars. Now, after parking, the car will crank but will not start.

Taurus

  • 67,004 miles
Our 2013, 6 cyl Ford Taurus limited AWD has been driven 67,004 fairly trouble-free miles needing only ordinary maintenance. The only notable repair was the replacement of a failed fuel pump control module about seven months ago. On the evening of January 20th, 2019, my wife and I were returning home after completing a 40-minute drive. We briefly stopped, waiting for our garage door to open completely and proceeded normally up our driveway, which is on about a 10-degree incline. As we approached the level floor of our garage, the motor rapidly revved up, lunging the vehicle forward. Luckily, the brakes held the car back, while the engine raced loudly and very fast. The process of this sudden and briefly continuous acceleration happened without any pressure on, or obstruction of the gas pedal. The engine briefly went into even a higher and louder RPM state after I quickly shifted the transmission into neutral, while applying strong pressure to the brake pedal. Luckily the car was stopped safely, but it left my wife and me quite distressed and concerned. We made an appointment for our mechanic to investigate this mysterious issue. If I were to speculate on the cause of this problem based on my experience, I would Venture a guess that perhaps something may not be right with the process that is designed to detect and prevent engine stalling. It seems to me, that when our car coasted up to the garage at the end of our driveway, the engine slowed down to a near stall and then revved up intensely on its own, giving me and my wife quite a scare.

Car lost all power in middle of intersection. Wrench symbol appeared, engine warning light came on and the car would barely move through the intersection. I took the car to a local repair shop to have the car scanned. The service tech said the car had a defective throttle body valve failure code. I was told by the service company that Ford has a problem involving the throttle body valves. So I called Ford after reading about all the failures that other customers have had with various models of Ford. The Ford customer service people told me that the throttle body issues they are having does not cover my vehicle. They then told me that your Agency is responsible for issuing a product recall and until your Agency does so we will need to incur the $400 to 600 dollar repair costs. I respectively request that your Agency immediately force Ford to fix this problem before someone gets seriously gets injured. It is apparent that this throttle body issue does exist on other models besides the models listed for the repairs. Please act on this immediately!

I have a 2013 Ford Taurus limited edition.my car started having problems.I was at a stop started to move when the light turned green.the wrench light came on.I had no gas pedal.car was shacking very bad.I coasted to the side of the road turned engine off.I restarted my car and it seemed fine.this has happened several times.I took my car to commercial Ford in aransas pass tx.they thought it was throttle body speed sensor but they didn't know at that time.took my car home it continued to have problems and finally set a code.they were right.they want $800 dollars to repair my car.the problem is the part is on back order.as of today there are 1562 on back order.this is going to take along time that I will be without a vehicle.I have researched online there are a lot of complaints about this same problem.this is a dangerous and unsafe problem.I don't understand why Ford doesn't recall these cars before someone gets hurt.please investigate and get Ford to fix my car and the 1562 other cars that are having this same issue.

I have 2013 Ford Taurus at sam galloway Ford in fort myers Florida, they called me and said my E.T.B electronic throttle body needs to be repaired/replaced and it will cost $750 out the door. I started doing some research for cheaper cost and I came across other Ford with this same problem that was recalled, made a few calls to Ford and they said my VIN number doesn't qualify my car for that recall. This is a very dangerous problem, the car will lose throttle in the middle of traffic. This seems to me a issue and problem with a number of Ford vehicles and just because mine doesn't fall under the VIN, it's still a Ford and the etb is a problem for Ford vehicles. Please make this a recall! etb is a problem that needs to be fixed for any Ford that it happens to! this has happened several times to me since I had the car and it's only been a two months. To dangerous to be on the streets to drive and needs to be fixed!

While driving the vehicle at highway speeds, it was noted that when I set the cruise control at 70 mph, the stated speed limit, the digital numerical readout read exactly 70 mph. The speedometer although reads consistently 3-4 mph above the cruise control setting. This has occurred since I took delivery of the vehicle as brand new from the dealer and occurs regardless of speed setting, I.e.: same issue if cruise is set at 45 mph, 55 mph, 65 mph, etc. After becoming concerned that the vehicle may in fact be traveling faster than the digital cruise control setting was stating, I took the vehicle back to dealer. They were unable fix the issue with exact explanation on my repair order reading: "client states when cruise set the speedometer always 3-4 miles higher. Nwp contact Ford advised to drive 2013 and 2014 models to verify concern. Both models same symptom. All ok at this time."
