I was driving home from work during a freezing rain storm when my car started to shudder. I had this happen several times before and the fix was to stop and shut off the car and start it back up again and it would stop shuttering. I choose not to because the roads were very slippery and there were too many cars around me so it was best to not stop and create a road hazard, So I limped it to my home for about 2 miles. I pulled into my garage due to the inclement weather and to my surprise there was flames coming out from under my front wheel wells.
I have my wife's 2013 Subaru that is parked next to it, 4 propane tanks, and all my tools in the garage, SO I JUMPED BACK INTO THE CAR AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND THEN BACKED IT OUT OF THE GARAGE AND YELLED TO MY WIFE TO CALL 911. IT BURNT TO THE GROUND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, EVEN BEFORE THE FIRE COMPANY ARRIVED. I'M NOT SURE WHAT I WAS THINKING BUT IN HINDSIGHT I DID RISK MY LIFE FOR A CAR.
I HAVE WAITED FOR 5 DAYS NOW AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY JUST PICKED UP THE CAR FOR EVALUATION TODAY.
Ford has said it cannot do anything for me except they all wanted to SELL ME A NEW one...really!!!! .
I guess MY NEXT STEP IS TO GET A LAWYER.
