Was driving to work yesterday AM and got this message, power steering then went out. Fortunately I was only a few miles from work and was able to steer it into the parking lot.
I parked, shut it down and restarted the engine. Power steering was back as if nothing happened but the Advanced traction control light was now on.
I called the dealer and was going to take it in later. He said I might have to leave it there for a few days since I don't have an appt. Well, around 1pm I leave to go to the dealer and everything is normal, as if it never happened. Power steering was OK, the TC light was still on but immediately went out as soon as I started driving.
I called the dealer and asked him if I should still bring it in now that everything was back to normal. I didn't want to leave my car there for a couple days if nothing is wrong. He said it wasn't necessary and most likely a fluke. He said to check the tire air pressure as this can sometimes be the cause. I said WTF? He said the electronic steering, brakes and tire pressure are all interrelated.
Update from Jul 8, 2014: The very next day it failed again and couldn't be reset. I took it back to the dealer. He said I would have to leave it there. I asked about a loaner and was told no they don't provide loaners. I said even in a serious critical safety issue? No was the answer. He called me the next day and said he ordered parts for the steering gear and it would probably be in the shop for 7 days.
