Same issue as one I just read...my 2010 Taurus leaked oil to the engine, meaning a new engine would be necessary - an $8,000 cost!! My son had this vehicle up at college and it would be financially impossible to tow it home to have someone else take a look at it. I had it towed to the closest Ford dealership for diagnostics and when they came back with $8,000 to fix, I about passed out! The value of the vehicle in Blue Book was $9,000 and other repairs that were needed (new tires and alignment) would bring the total price to $9,000 to fix. I had not choice but to call junk yards in the area and received a measly $800 for a fully loaded 2010 Ford Taurus with under 125K miles because Ford never recalled these vehicles! This is such a shame and I am as upset as can be. I thought my son would have this vehicle during his entire college years, especially with a vehicle with only 125K miles. I had to lease him a vehicle and you better believe that I stayed away from any Ford product.

leaking oil

Was under my car verifying that the leak to my PTU, which I had fixed in January, was still okay. Everything looked great until I happened to shine my light on my LH turbo. The whole underside of the turbo was wet with oil. The only way even notice that this was going was to crawl under the car. The pavement where I park my car is clear of any kind of oil drops, the car doesn't smell like oil, and the oil level has not gone down since my last oil change. This is a HUGE fire hazard. I have submitted a complaint to the NHTSA but have not heard back yet.

Back in 2012 Ford issued a TSB for an updated design on the turbo oil return line, which is the tube coming off the turbo in the picture. This is absolute BS that there was no recall for this. The flash point of 5W-30 oil is 450 Degrees Celsius. The exhaust manifold, which is only inches away from the turbo can exceed 700 degrees Celsius at any one time. Based on the location of the leak there is a good chance of oil dripping. Since the whole surface is covered in oil this is a huge safety issue. The fix for this is most likely going to cost me hundreds of dollars. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. A TSB for this kind of defect is not enough. The customer should not be liable for a defective component that could cause a safety problem.

leaking oil

My dad bought me this car beacause I had finally graduated. BIG MISTAKE! This is the freakiest car Ive ever owned! My first truck was a 1999 Toyota Tacoma, and it had 353,023 miles when I got the SHO. I regret it every bit because the Tacoma was in prefect shape! You would think the SHO would be a nice, well-built vehicle, but it isnt. I get it up to about 50 MPH and it shakes, rattles, and Im starting to think it wont roll after long. It aslo leaks oil like water!

I took it in to the dealer, and they told me they didnt have a solution yet. My picture shows how much oild has been wasted since I bought it. Thank God my gf is loaning me her 2011 Toyota Avalon. That car gets to 50 faster and handles even better than the SHO! Pathetic Ford! When this is all settles, Im selling it and buying a Toyota!
