As a result, the contact's foot came in contact with the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal became depressed while the brakes were also being applied. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was caused by a manufacturing design fault and not a defect. The vehicle was not repaired.
