Noticed when test driving to buy (used). Salesman said it was just tire noise. I didn't pursue. Over a year later, my husband decided to have the Ford shop (different dealership) check it out. They checked struts and said all okay. Took it back months later with continued complaint plus new complaint of looser suspension, bouncing feel in rear end. They decide it's bearings and replace the rear bearings. Still not right so took it back to dealership where purchased. They find bad front tie rods, struts and bearings to be replaced, alignment and brake rotors in need!..Car has 59000 miles now! If we'd checked it out at purchase it would have been covered under warranty. Now....my expense. Our '96 Explorer with 210000 miles has never had tie rod problems! Seems poor quality.
