We purchased a 2009 Ford Taurus AWD with 26,000 original miles, used, from a Ford Dealership in Alaska. We purchased the car about the end of Oct 2011. Since the day of purchase we noticed distinct exhaust fumes anytime we are were in traffic. We try to keep a distance from other vehicles while sitting in traffic. We even pick up exhaust fumes from vehicles passing us on the highways. We tried using the recirculation switch on the dash during these times, but it still has a smell. We scheduled our first oil change at the local Ford dealership, we complained about the exhaust fume smell at that time. We also asked them to check for an interior filter, but we were told it did not have one. We have owned a 1994, 1997, 2001 and 2006 Taurus. We had no complaints on any of them, especially any exhaust fumes into the interior of the car. Due to my health issue i.e. Lung Cancer, my wife and myself are more concerned about these exhaust fumes coming into the car. Please respond with a solution for us. Thank You.
