2008 Ford Taurus OWNERS!!!!!
From all the complaints I've read here, there should have been a recall on this issue. PLEASE call Ford Motor Corp. at 1-800-392-3673 with your VIN and tell them about the problem. If they recall the part, you may be get a refund for repairs - even if you do not still own the car!
The thing is that if the part is defective, no matter how many times we replace the part, the problem WILL continue - because the PART is defective that they use to make the repair! They HAVE to FIX the replacement parts!!!! It may last a few years, or months, but the problem WILL return because the replacement PART is defective.
I bought the car off a little, old lady who only drove it to church & back and for social functions near her home. LITERALLY! I bought it off the little old lady herself! I've known her for 20 years & the car is only 10 years old. Purchased with 49,456 miles on it!!! She did every oil change, maintenance suggestion, and everything on time, every time. Within a few days of driving, I noticed the car would suddenly jolt forward several feet when I was already completely stopped at lights, stop signs, etc. I thought it was power surge from a/c and maybe I didn't have foot firmly on brake - getting used to new car. No. The car would jolt forward up to 3 feet even when a/c was off, my foot firmly on brake, and had already been securely stopped for several seconds.
Then, it suddenly lost power while I was driving. Engine revving, gas pedal pushed, and car won't go more than 8 - 10 mph. Every light on dash came on. Next day, when putting it into 'R' for towing, car jolted backwards so hard, it threw me into the steering wheel.
Repairs to Transmission Speed Sensor made by reputable dealership (employee owned) were over $2,400. Got the car back. Same issue, though more mild this time. (A/c off or on makes NO difference in this power surge/sudden loss of power.)
From everything I've read here, ALL you Ford Taurus owners need to call Ford directly! They said if they had enough complaints about the problem, they would look at a recall - especially when it is something that could potentially cause bodily injury/wreck. PLEASE call them - even if you no longer have your car! You can help get the recall to happen and you should be eligible for a full refund (parts & Labor) for the repairs that should have been a recall issue!!!
You may contact me if you wish. I'm having car towed over AGAIN today for same issue!
