car grinds to halt when turning and going slowly
This started happening shortly after I purchased the car in 2010 when it had less than 50,000 miles on it. It happens in parking lots or coming out of driveways... always when moving slow and turning. Usually turning right but sometimes left also. It makes a grinding noise and brings the car to a halt. It happens once in awhile, maybe 3-8 times per year. The noise and feel remind me of the anti-skid feature and it sounds exactly like the problem described as a Traction problem by someone else on this site.
I took it to a Ford dealer 2 times and neither time could they reproduce it or see anything wrong.
It is annoying... but could be a safety issue if it happened while a car was oncoming, as the vehicle is momentarily forced to a halt. It then resumes normal operation.
