Seen all the complaints online. while on a trip to Va , from Oh lost power. while in gear will not go forward. seems like with the internet and social media if enough people report or complain to ford they should do a recall or send out notices. I had a child in the car and was in the middle of nowhere.
I have had two transmissions put in this car. One in 2007 which was covered under a warranty that I had and the other just recently but was only given 6 months warranty (paid $2,400) and had continued problems. Now, I will have to replace again has the transmission is continually revving up. I will never ever buy another Ford product. It is true that Ford transmissions do not last long and are no good. The car looks good on the outside but under the hood is another story.
Wife driving home from work no warning engine revved up pulled over car would not move in any gear i seen on web site a lot other people with same prob. ask around other mechanic. said that year converter goes and wipes out tranny. I used to be a ford mechanic. Owned nothing but fords never had a prob. with any of them like this if ford recalls the converter we wouldn;t lose the tranny. converter 220.00 dollars now converter and tranny 3000.00 dollars out my pocket something wrong with this picture
Only 70K and needs a new transmission. My family have been avid Ford owners for many years, but my experience with this Taurus has swayed us all. I will never buy Ford again. The fact that this particular year of Taurus has faulty transmissions says to me that Ford should be responsible. I do not have 2 or 3 thousand dollars to fix a car and I depend on my car to get back and forth to work. This has been a devastating blow and I still don't know if I should pay to have it repaired or just buy a new (non Ford) car. My problem is the same as so many others. Engine light came on, starting noticing shifting issues, took it to my mechanic and sure enough he told me I needed a new transmission to the tune of $2500. or more. My advice to all.. Don't buy Ford and definitely NOT Taurus!
I apparently fell victim to the same problems as everyone else. The transmission just stopped working while traveling on the interstate. Engine would rev, but nothing happened. I was told by the shop the torque converter blew and sprayed metal in to the transmission. It cost me just under 3 grand to get a new rebuilt transmission from ford. If it was a fluke I wouldn't mind so much, things break. There are far too many of these same problems in the same year and model for it to just be a coincidence.
I am the original owner of my 2005 Ford Taurus there is only 35,163 miles on the car. The car is in the shop due to transmission failure. The transmission is in such bad shape that it can not be rebuilt. Of course the transmission failed shortly after the power train warranty expired. I phoned the Ford Company and was told to keep my receipt in case of a recall!! I have taken excellent care of this vehicle with regular maintenance. There should be no reason that it should need a new transmission! I have been reading on line and by what I'm seeing I'm not the only on with this problem.
had the same problem as many others. Going home from church with my hubby and three kids. Got off highway and suddenly car revs up and acts like it is in neutral. Sucks because I already put tons of money into getting new tires, new battery, new alternator, and new something else. I still owe money on this piece of crap. not very happy, especially since I find out so many others have this issue. never again will i buy a ford. not happy at all.
I have driven new Ford's since 1987. After getting off work around 5 PM I hopped into car, started it and put in D and motor engine raised and car went nowhere. I turned engine off and tried again only to go nowhere. Checked transmission fluid to find it was full. Had the car towed to local garage to find out transmission was bad. The dealership told me the drive train warranty was past 60,000 miles and past it's warranty. This is the first time I found out Ford covers only 60,000 instead 100,000 drive train warranty. After talking to Ford for some help on repair cost of this defective tranny they simply said NO. I explained all the complaints on this 2005 Ford Taurus tranny problems, they should recall them because there is a problem. They simply said NO again. I told them I purchased 15 new Ford's since 1987 including (4) F150's, (3) Explorer's, (4) Taurus, (2)Mustang's and still owned 2008 & 2010 Taurus and said they need to help loyal Ford customers with these tranny problems. I even told them I would stop buying Ford products if they would not step up to the plate and help. They again said NO. That being said, I'm in the process of selling both my Taurus cars. Ford can simply kiss my a**. I will purchase anything but Ford as they will not stand behind their product. They don't care about the customers as they told me to purchase something other than Ford. I am doing just that. STAY AWAY FROM FORD AND YOU CAN AVOID THIS PROBLEM. I recieved a call from Ford Customer Care about my problem to say they were sorry about my problems. This time I said NO thanks to them and told them to take me off their mailing list as I'm no longer a loyal Ford customer.
Second Ford Taurus we have owned and trans problems with both. First one was a 1992 Taurus and tranny went out twice. Now we have a 2005 Taurus and tranny went out on it too. Would not shift from first to second gear. Wanted to go third gear and skip second. Got "Check Transmission" warning on the computer read out on the dash and took it in. Getting it fixed now and top cost could be $2900. Will be a complete rebuild. Converter and all. Will see when we get it back in two days.
Yes I join your ranks, I have a Ford 2005 Taurus,Transmission went at just short of 60,000 miles. Called all over Ford straight to the top and they could care less. I own the car, finally paid it off and this happens. their solution, buy another car and new loan---REALLY--I need a car, have handicapped brother---Not sure what to do, rebuild transmission, new transmission I do not know---

Driving to work and all of a sudden no more forward gears, coast to the side of the freeway and wait for a tow. 68,000 and the transmission fails, I will never buy another Ford product. Oh, then when I get the car back from the dealer my cruise control does not work, now I have to go back and have them check it out. Probably forgot to plug in a sensor but what a hassle. You lost me as a customer.
I was driving my77 year old grandmother's Taurus, she was just admitted to the hospital and I was returning home to pick up some things for her. All of a sudden the engine revved up like I was in the wrong gear and then simply wouldn't go. Luckily a mechanic behind me helped me get it off to the emergency lane. Not so luckily it turned out to be the transmission. Just found out today that a new one is going to cost 2064+tax+labor. Probably will go with the rebuilt one for 1350+tax+labor. My family is going to try to pay this for her as her lung cancer treatment has already drained her finances. I think a car with only 63,000 miles should not be having this type of problem. This car was babied and only driven by my grandmother. I am very disappointed in Ford Motor Co.
My sister & I had just enjoyed a wonderful lunch & I dropped her back off @ work! As I merged onto the interstate, my car started to rev up like it was in neutral! So, I pulled over & called my brother! When he checked it, all fluids were adequate & he couldn't understand why my transmission would go out the way it did, especially with NO forewarning! I called roadside assistance (whom took 2 hours) to come tow it home! Sad to say, it's been sitting in the same spot since 8/3 b/c I can't afford a new, rebuilt or a used transmission @ this time! It's very disturbing, especially since I've only had it 10 months!!! After reading all of the other complaints, I agree that Ford needs to do a recall!
I guess I'm one of a few that this has happened to huh. I'm really, really upset because I wouldn't have purchased a car with so many miles and the threat of having to purchase a new transmission, which is what I think my fate will be. I don't know yet but I'm upset about Ford not doing a recall to fix this issue.
Just out of the blue, the car stopped, as if paralyzed transmission wise. No legs if you get what I mean. No such thing as good timing on anything like this. It's been a fine car. Searching out options. I had transmission problems with other Fords. It's been expensive before, probably will again. Hardly fair to say the least. If this is something that can be fixed with a recall, it behooves Ford to take a look into it.
In the meantime, a lot of people are sitting here ranting about the situation. SO, what fixed it? HOW MUCH did it cost to fix your individual problems? It's nice to have a place to rant and rave, but complaining doesn't solve anything, and knee jerk reaction only brings more problems. What was the SOLUTION people?
I was on my way home from work when I was driving down the road headed home and all of a sudden my car revs up like it is in neutral. I didn't get any warning lights or anything to tell me something was wrong. The car has been running just fine ever since I got it back in 2009. It has been a great car.
the car had ribbed up a coupler times the gas stared to stick. i had just started a class for a new job, we were let out for lunch & on the way back the transmission stopped. i just did make it through the intersection & i had to call my ex husband to pick me up take me back to class which was three days long. i had to leave my car on side of the road & my nephew came to stay with the car until aaa came and towed it to my house and it has been in my driveway since then. i didn't have three thousand dollars to fix something ford motors should be held accountable for. the same problems for this 2005. shame on you ford, there should be a recall.
I was driving my daughter, who happens to be 6 mos. pregnant to pick up her car from work. We had just come to a 4-way stop at a very busy intersection, when my car revved real high and would not go. It felt like it was stuck in neutral. I was able to coast the car off the busy road onto a back road and called AAA to tow it to my mechanic. It was not pleasant being stuck for an hour on a 90 degree day with my complaining daughter while we waited to be towed. My car has been well maintenanced and showed absolutely no signs of any slippage or tranny problems. I realized after my mechanic told me about this sight, that this is a real problem and Ford needs to step up and make this right. I am very disappointed that this is being ignored. I would like to know what the cause of this failure is exactly. I've seen were it could be the torque converter or the entire tranny, what really fails does anyone know?
Not happy to report I have joined the ranks of many. Driving along in my 2005 Taurus and lost all gears, right in the middle of the road. No warning, no previous transmission issues (such as slipping or hard shifting). It is sad so many others have experienced the same. I guess now I know why a car person said to me just after I purchased it, good luck keeping a transmission in it. I should know what my repair bill is going to be in a few days.....sigh
