I had a troublcode PO353. That's when I noticed my battery was almost dead. Replaced the battery and it missfired horribly. It had a cracked coil pack so I replaced that and the spark plugs. I still had a very rough idle. I thought the PCM was just reprogramming itself. Then I had it missing at highway speeds and the transmission was slipping at pretty much every speed and gear.........And no check engine light!!!!!!! When you start the car the engine light would come on and go off at different times than the rest of the dash light. Decided to change the throttle position sensor, clean the mass air flow sensor, and clean the idle air control since I had to figure this out on my own. I went to have a friend do a diagnostics check anyway because that all solved nothing. His scanner screwed up. Not sure if the car did it or not. Started to drive home and the engine took off without me touching the gas pedal. Shut the car off. Stomped on the gas pedal. Tried again, it did it again. Banged around on a bunch of parts on the intake and sprayed the throttle cable and was able to drive home. I took out every single goddanged fuse and checked them. All were fine. Drove off and the transmission was toast......but, I got a check engine light. Must have been a fuse improperly put in. As for my livelyhood.....I'm f*cked. Thanks Ford. I can fix it and owe my ass or buy a reliable car and owe my ass. Hmmmm! What would you do?
