Fuel Gage Inop + Engine Light On + P0460 - The problem is a failing E85 fuel sensor. You can get one from your local dealer; costs about $40. It installs under the radio, under the dash. Not hard to get to - just unbolt, pull off the wire connection, put in the new part. I did this on my 2001 Taurus and it solved the problem.
Fuel gauge is wacko and engine light is on since 36k, now has 90k. Gauge usually reads over full but sometimes in between F & E and below E sometimes. Never again people, never again! This is the last ford I will own. Just read they are bringing the Taurus back in 08 which is the ford 500 with a new name. go figure.

The check engine light has been on for 30,000 miles and the fuel gage works sporadically at best...have run out of gas twice
