2000 Ford Taurus serpentine belt broke and lost control then went off the left side of the ramp and into a ditch. The serpentine belt had overheated. The consumer stated the belt was replaced within the last year. The officer noticed a puddle of anti-freeze on the ground under the right side of the engine. The rear bumper was damaged. The consumer owns a 2000 Ford Taurus. While driving on the road the rear spring coil went into the left rear tire and caused it to blow out. The vehicle was towed by a flat bed truck to a local dealer. The consumer was without a car for several days. The tire was replaced. There was no crash and no injuries. (11/29/05) the consumer was in the passing lane of a four lane highway when the incident occurred, but fortunately the consumer was able to keep the vehicle under control. The serpentine belt cracked.
