While driving 25 mph vehicle stalled but consumer stated had ran out of gas without knowing because the vehicle gas gauge was registering at a half of tank. Vehicle would not restart after putting fuel in vehicle. Took to dealer and dealer indicated the fuel pump had burned up. Dealer states that with 2" gallons of gas the fuel gauge was reading " tank, replaced fuel gauge assembly.
Fuel level indicator does not properly indicate fuel level; level has been indicated as almost empty, but fill-up took only 5 gallons; other times, indicates almost full, but needs lots of fuel.
Gas gauge indicator misreads the amount of fuel in the vehicle. Gauge varies by a half of a tank between uphill and downhill. With six gallons of fuel the vehicle can run out of fuel while going up hill or when parked on an incline. The dealer has been notified.
Gas gauge wasn't working properly. It was showing that there wasn't any gas in the vehicle although tank was half full. Dealer replace gas gauge. Also consumer can can smell gas fumes.
