While braking engine started racing at a high rate intermittently. Consumer hade to pump the brakes. This caused a minor collision. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
Vehicle is having problems with the cruise control. It is not working. The speedometer isn't reading it correctly. Vehicle is also having a problem with acceleration. When it occurs, the driver shut down the vehicle for about 10 mins. When vehicle is re-started everything begins to work again. Provide further details.
Vehicle's engine accelerated to 3000 RPM's resulting in vehicle hitting a brick wall. When the consumer attempted to place the gear in park, the engine accelerated, it was impossible to stop the high RPM rate the engine had attained. The vehicle jumped an eight inch curb crossed a sidewalk and a grassy area of twenty feet and violently hit a brick wall. The consumer was unable to place the gear into park, turn the engine off or pull the key out of the ignition.
While driving at 35mph car would not automatically shift into the next gear. The more accelaration was attempted, the harder the engine pushed and the higher the rpms went without changing gear. Took to dealership who have yet to look at problem.
At various times (since 34000 miles) the engine will rev but not move forward. Sometimes I have to pull over and stop the vehicle altogether and restart, or run the engine hoping it will shift into gear. Always happens at first gear, the RPM needle is at the top of the dial and the odomoter needles sticks and doesn't move. I have had a few close calls already when coming out into intersections. Have had the vehicle checked at two different dealerships and am told a repair cannot be made until they are able to duplicate the problem. This problems is going to get me killed. I am now at 53000 miles and it continues to get worse. Where can I get some assistance. The first 3 checks on this problem occured while the car was still under warranty.

Consumer states that after driving vehicle for any amount of time coolant leakes out onto the ground when the vehicle is parked. Also while driving at any speed vehicles accelerates without any warning, and vehicle stalls when brakes are applied.
I drive a 1999' Ford Taurus. Upon entering the freeway I noticed that the car was accelerating on its own. Car does not have cruise control. I thought that the accelerator cable was sticking. I had the car checked out for the sticky cable but found out there was no problem with the cable. Between then and now I have gotten the problem fixed from the Ford dealership twice (paid couple of hundred dollars each time),and the car was acting up again(for the third time). Then a friend of mine remined me of this show he had seen where people had reported their Taurus's accelerating suddenl, Y but Ford Motor Co. Passed the buck on the drivers (they accidently may have stepped on the gas pedal). This was a real problem with the Taurus and I have talked to the dealership, but each time I get an unsatisfactory answer from them.
Consumer is having a problem with the acceleration, and says at times it seems to accelerate when you attempt to stop or slow down, and then when the brake are applied the vehicle does not stop properly. The consumers husband was advised by the dealer to replace the idle air control valve, however that did not solve the problem, consumer feels that this could be dangerous and possibly cause an accident.
Power steering failed to work which made steering the vehicle very difficult, roaring sounds come from the steering column, the speedometer fluctuates and caused car to jump forward and speed ahead. Nlm
When pulling up to a gas pump or into a parking space car will accelerate in short bursts. It will do this over and over until you come to a complete stop and put it in park. This has been a problem since we purchased the car. Ford could not find any problems until a year after the purchase date.
While driving down on a declining road or street vehicle would not decelereate properly. Brakes must be applied hard to get vehicle to slow down or to stop. Dealer contacted. Feel free to provide any further information. Consumer checked the accelerator spring and determined it was not weak or broken.
While at a stop applied brakes and engine started to race. Rpms went to 5000, vehicle is at dealership at this time. When the consumer put the vehicle in reverse to back up, the vehicle lurched forward strongly while his foot was on brake.
Driver experienced sudden acceleration while cruise control was engaged twice within the same hour. Driver had to exit off highway due to brakes having minimum affect with pedal descending to floor board. After that, driver pulled over and had difficulty moving gear shift from park after sitting for several minutes. After disengaging cruise control, driver was able to control vehicle. Consumer had scheduling problems with dealership, but was advised not to use cruise control until vehicle was inspection.
When consumer puts vehicle in drive it will accelerate without applying pressure to the pedal. Dealership is aware of problem. Consumer stated the dealer installed a part, however the problem still exists.
When the vehicle is started cold, consumer notices the vehicle surging, vehicle has been at dealership for 72 days, the dealer can not duplicate the problem.
Vehicle suddenly and intermittently accelerates, vehicle has been into dealership on several occasions, but has been unable to duplicate the problem.. consumer stated the vehicle downshifts hard at times into low gear and jerks when put into reverse.
