While pulling into a parking space consumer heard a loud noise. Upon inspection of the vehicle consumer noticed the source of the noise was due to the timing belt breaking and falling off.
I was driving home from work on a busy highway (rt. 80) when th Ford Taurus that I was driving began to shut off. I was driving 50 miles per hour when the car began to slow down to a complete stop. I managed to get the car pulled over to the shoulder on the busy highway. It was rush hour and the highway was extremely busy. When I came to a complete stop I opened the hood on the busy highway. There was smoke coming up from the antifreeze overflow tank. I checked the oil and it was ok. I had the car towed to a garage. The garage informed me there was a crack in the head gasket or in the engine block. This garage did not want to touch the car because they said oil was mixing with the antifreeze. I then had the car towed to a Ford dealer in lehighton, pa they informed me that there is internal damage to my motor and the repairs could cost up to $4000. I have had this vehicle for 1 year and I still owe $11,000 on the vehicle. I was never offered an extended warrenty on the car. I do not feel like this is my fault and I do not feel like I should have to pay $4000 repair for this car. Thankyou, laura cox.
Vehicle caught fire after driven for a short distance. Insurance company will not release cause. Owner indicated that something in engine was probable cause.
Consumer states even when pressing on brakes, the vehicle will try to move forward or jerk. Contacted dealer. Consumer states vehicle leaks oil in the hood area on the right side, also smokes and there is a noise on the right side when consumers foot is on the brake.
When the vehicle is started cold, consumer notices the vehicle surging, vehicle has been at dealership for 72 days, the dealer can not duplicate the problem.
Excellent svc history, engine blew after warranty, Ford Motor Company and dealer wouldn't cover and I defenitely could not afford a new engine/replacement, surrendered vehicle under bankruptsy, quite surprised vehicle engine expired at such low mileage. I will be happy to provide any prior service reports, from oil changes to anything. Thanks.
Vehicle had a ticking noise in engine since March of 2000. While driving about 55-60 mph black smoke started coming from all areas of vehicle, and it caught on fire. Vehicle was towed to the dealership, and the engine was replaced.
I was at a stop light when I first smelled the intoxicating fumes. Once the light turned I proceded to drive about 1/8th mile. While driving the car became difficult to accelerate. The oil light came on and the car instantly went dead making it nearly impossible to steer off to the side of the road. The dealership did say they have heard of this problem with the 1999 Ford Taurus, however there is not a recall on them. The dealership that repaired my car had another car come in with the same problem while my car was there.
