When I brake at highway speed the steering wheel vibrates very bad. The rotors were replaced when the car was new. I am on my third set of brake pads and third set of tires in 80,000 miles. I have been told by mechanics that there was a problem with the rotors on my 99 Ford Taurus but Ford refuses to acknowledge. This is a very dangerous situation because the sterring wheel almost jumps out of your hand.
While driving at any speed consumer felt pulsation and vibration when braking. The ABS light stayed on at all times, and there was a humming coming from under the hood.
Brake rotors on 1999 Ford Taurus are becoming warped and causing the brakes to vibrate and the steering to shake when the brakes are applied at 40 mph and over. I believe that this is also causing an increase in the time required to stop the vehicle. I have had to have my rotors turned twice, the first time at 30,016 miles and just recently at 52,400 miles. The dealer told me that he is seeing this with lots of 1999 Taurus vehicles, and he believes there is a design problem.
Vehicle vibrates when accelerating 60mph and higher, dealer inspected vehicle several times, and replaced the tires and rotors.. in June of 1999 consumer was informed that the wheels were out of round not the tires, one of four tires was replaced, however the problem remained, consumer states vehicle is on its second set of tires.
Vehicle/steering colum vibrates when brakes applied at speeds 40+mph. Dealer states rotors warped. Corrective action is to turn rotors. Rotors need turning at about 5000 miles. Replaced rotors, now awaiting problem to reoccure. Dealer offers no corrective action or reason as to why rotors warp so quickly or numerous times. Just a common problem with Ford Taurus. Vehicle very dangerous to handle, especially at highway speeds. Awaiting next failure. Problem #2 front bumper paint peeling/cracking and flaking off. Vehicle under warranty, dealer states not a paint defect. However, bumper paint in bad shape. Bumper paint not covered under any warranty according to dealer. Have filed complaint with manfacture. Dealer willing to paint bumper for large sum of money. So much for a vehicle warranty.
Faulty brake rotors on front disc brakes are warping, causing steering to shake when applying brakes. Consumer states he was told by mechanic this failure is caused by faulty construction of these type of rotors.
Warped brake rotors. Contacted dealer, dealer said that it was a common problem that those brakes can warp at 10 thousand miles or in rain. Also that rotors can't be resurfaced. Rotors were resurfaced twice by the dealer.
Brakes have worn out twice with in a year. Brake system has been worked on from rotors to master cylinder. Brakes are still bad. Dealer has been contacted.
While driving would step on brake pedal and steering column will start vibrating, and brakes will take long to stop. A technician said that rotors heated up, and had been replaced.
Had to have original rotors replaced when the car was only 1 month old, at 2 months had to have another set of rotors, put on car, that set is still on the car but have had a problem with the brakes squealing for about 5 months now, car was taken to service dept. And brakes were cleaned squealing stopped for two days, now there is a slight pulsing again, car will be taken to service dept. Again, it seems that the brake problem may be connected to the idle speed, the care picks up speed even when you are not giving it gas. Which in turn causes brakes to be used more then they should be.
Whenever brakes are applied, steering wheel vibrates. Has taken vehicle to dealership at least 6 different times for the problem. Each time the rotors had been changed, but the problem still exists.
