Consumer experiencing problem with vehicle. Whenever it is at a stop gear shifter has to be moved back and forth before vehicle would move. Dealer notified.
Transmission, radiator, and water pump all replaced in first 66K. This car has been very expensive to maintain. I am forced to purchase my next car from Japan or europe. So much for supporting the american economy.
This is the second 1996 Ford Taurus that I have owned. I traded the first one for my current vehicle when it was about to get its third transmission installed. I have had the transmission replaced in my present Taurus at 26800 miles(approx.) and have developed a transmission fluid leak in this transmission. I am approaching my wits end with this situation and would like to know what can be done. I am receiving no help from my dealer. Thanks.
Consumer states in warm weather when the vehicle is placed in gear vehicle does not move. Problem seems to be intermittent. It takes 10-15 seconds of pressing the gas pedal before the vehicle goes into gear, forward or reverse.
Whenever brakes are applied transmission would jerk or slip. Took to dealer & mechanic replaced it with a rebuilt one. Jerking/slipping reappeared. Took vehicle back & it was test driven, no problems existed. For a 3rd time, problem reoccurred. Mechanic informed owner that Ford orderd not to fixed the vehicle even though the manufacturer knew about the transmission problem.
Rusty water in radiator reservoir. Also, vehicle surges at all times; transmission shifts when going down incline, causing vehicle to runaway and brake vibration when driving at 40-45 mph.
When making a left or right turn at any rate of speed the vehicle will lose all power steering ability which could result in loss of vehicle control. Dealer replaced the transmission module which may have corrected the problem.
