This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Experienced grinding noise when turning steering wheel to right. Diagnosed as a short rack and power steering return problem. Service tech stated that this problem "doesn't occur under normal driving conditions, " and couldn't provide a reason for problem. I believe it is a defect from the manufacturer, and I should be refunded my costs for the repair. There should be some sort of recall action because the problem, from what I am reading from others, is too systemic to be a coincidence.
Steering wheel would lock up. Steering would get sluggish & moan. Took to mechanic & was informed that the actuator assembly/hose/ power steering rack needed replacing. Had them replaced twice before, but problem still exists. This last time mechanic could not locate what the problem was.
