This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I bought the car about a year and half ago and right off was having problems with the transmission. Very disappionted because I love my Ford I checked the fluilds and kept it up had the gasket replaced. And it still jerks into gear but its an automatic ! what concerns me now my I had my rotars and brakes replaced and my car is still eating up tires too and bouncing all over the road!!
The consumer has received 3 recall, 98S36 for subframe rear plate nut replacement, and two others 01S30 and 01M09 related to the engine cooling system, the transmission failed and the engine overheats which is probably directly related to the recall, the consumer is unable to take the vehicle to be repaired since it is inoperative and the closest dealer is an hour and a half away, the vehicle has been sitting unused for about a year..
Vehicle was brought in for service again because the vehicle would barely move when accelerating into lower gears. The transmission was over hauled, flushed and the converter checked. A rear planet support kit and over haul kit was installed. Consumer was also informed that a ring gear was hitting the gear box and could cause problems later.(consumer no longer ownes vehicle)
Transmission disengages/slips when vehicle comes to a stop, like when trying to merge into traffic. Transmission jumps into gear abruptly after excellerator pedal is pressed hard. This failure caused a traffic accident and injury with this owner when trying to merge onto a highway. This complaint is being repeated over and over on this web site. How many people must be injured before action is taken?
Consumer was traveling about 65mph on highway and without prior warning stopped abruptly and transmission went into into a neutral mode. Dealership was aware of problem.
Transmission appears to shift into netural when after coming to a stop then shifts into forward gear and jumps forward rapidly(thismay be because I'm pressing on the gas assuming it is in a forward gear. This has several times to me. I have talked to another person where I work, and he had to have his transmission replaced(about $2300).
