In a parking lot was not able to start the vehicle. Nothing was wrong with the battery. Had the vehicle towed to the dealer, and they couldn't find anything wrong. This happened intermittently.
Ford is aware of the premature failure of head gaskets...I recieved a notice, however when my engine gasket blew and the car overheated I was at 75,600.600 miles over the extended warenty.now 3 days after paying for a new gasket and all the repairs my dealer said the car needed.I was told the car needs a new engine which will cost and estimated 3,500-4,000$more.....may I add the car is only 4 yrs old....Ford will not assume any responcibility.now you must be asking yourself....is this a safty issue?.let me answer that.when you are traveling 55mph and your engine stalls because it lost oil pressure after it got hot, and you suddenly lose all power....well yes....it almost caused a very bad accident I.

Head gasket was recalled in 1998 and replaced. Is there any similarity or connection to this gasket leak. Material defects, etc. I've been quoted $500 to fix.
When the air temperature is extremely hot and humid (above 90 degrees) and the car has been driven for a period of time, stalling occurs, mostly at idle. This seems to occur when the car has been driven for a long time, parked, and then started again after a short period of time. The car will not restart until it has cooled down considerably. I noticed that there was at least one other complaint concerning this problem. I have not had this problem fixed because it is intermittent and has only happened twice in the time I've owned the car. What gives?
While driving vehicle stalled unexpectedly without warning which might have caused a crash. Dealer could not determine the problem. Sometimes, vehicle would restart afterwards. If not it would, it needed to be towed.
Consumer was sitting in the driveway and saw smoke. Consumer turned vehicle off and a blaze started. Someone let the hood up, and the fire came from everywhere.
Twice in a matter of weeks vehicle lost full power, once in town and once on interstate. Required pulling off road and restarting vehicle. After first failure, returned to local (Ohio) Ford dealer for full inspection. Vehicle was found to be in "normal" condtion.
Vehicle was returned from pioneer Ford after head gasket failure, failure of head gasket was covered by Ford under recall, 2 days later vehicle overheated again, this time cause was found to be main control cover gasket failure allowing water to leak in the oil. Ford refused to cover this failure even though failure was to to the same cause as head gasket failure. Service bulletin 96-17-14 is for a new elastomeric gasket for the main control cover and pan that probably would have prevented this failure.
While driving had air conditioner on at about 65mph the car stalled and died out for 30min. Consumer contacted the dealer, dealer has yet to replace parts.
