A/C failed previous year while under warranty and dealer failed to detect any malfunction. A/C failed exactly 1 year to the day later and dealer refused to repair A/C under dealer warranty since they had not worked on the compressor the previous year. In having several conversations with Ford owners I have discovered a trend with problems not only with the head gaskets, but also with the A/C. this appears to be a trend in compressor failures which leads to a $900 repair.
Head gasket failed causing overheating and an odor to permeate the vehicle, the head gaskets were replaced without charge per recall 98mo1, as a result of the head gasket failure other components were damaged and replaced.
Defective engine mounts caused stress and leakage of A/C fluid from the A/C manifold line. Several repair shops assessed the problem as the same for which the 1992/1993 Taurus was recalled and 1994 models on secret warranty.

The right and read engine mounts both broke. Ford asserts that the vehicle is out of warranty. At this relatively low mileage, it seems absurd that broken engine mounts are reasonable. I know of at least one other person who has had this same problem.
While driving the vehicle my wife lost power and observed white smoke coming out of the rear exhaust pipe. Later a mechanic at lithia Ford determined that the car blew a head gasket. We contact Ford but they refused to accept any liability.
This car had a headgasket failure in April 2000. It was repaired at berglund Ford in salem Virginia. Berglund determined the headgasket failure caused antifreeze to contaminate all engine components. When they tore down the engine they found antifreeze in every compartment of the engine. They changed all gaskets, replaced all fluids, did a change of spark plugs and changed the oxygen sensor. They charged me over $388. To replace gaskets they said needed replaced but weren't covered under the warranty recall. I paid this to get my car repaired hopefully correctly. No other option was given to me even though I felt they should have replaced the engine. Not 5 month later I suffered complete engine failure after only driving an additional 3, ooo miles. I also had to have my car towed which cost me another $1oo. Huff Ford, Inc in wytheville, va replaced my engine with a re-built engine under warranty. My car is still not repaired correctly. When the engine was replaced somehow they damaged my steering system. The car now drifts somewhat in the middle steering range something I have never experienced before. I have reported this to Ford Motor Company and to my local Ford dealer berglund Ford as well as huff Ford where the problem occurred. I have yet to hear from any of them about addressing this problem. I have an appointment with berglund Ford on 10/04/00 to assess the problem. Ford also told me verbally I have a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on the replaced engine but I can not get them to give this warranty to me in writing even though I have asked for it three times. Can you help with any of this? especially reimbursement of costs I have had to put out because Ford did not repair my vehicle correctly yo begin with. Thank you.
Motor mount caused loud thump whem starting. Only occured when accelerating from a standing start and did not occur at all times. Had to take it in 3 times to get it corrected.

Upon having difficulty with engine of Ford, Taurus, took it to dealership in November of 1999 for servicing, whereas I was informed that head gaskets and valve covers needed to be replaced as were leaking and could cause serious engine failure and damage that would be extensive to the vehicle. At this point, said vehicle had 30,000 miles on odometer. Brought vehicle to two separate independent car businesses to confirm this problem as existing, then proceeded to notify Ford Motor Company by both phone and letter stating the problem with vehicle and expressing my concern that a car should not need a head gasket/valve disorder at 30,000 miles. I also atated that Ford needs to accept some responsibility towards this matter, whereas they have declined. As of this date, August 7, 2000, I am still actively seeking justification and compensation from Ford, who, has acknowledged this problem in the Ford Taurus with the 3.8 L engines, but not the 3.0 L engine. It seems that the warranty extension should cover both engines, as it is a defective assembly problem from the Ford manufacturer, and not the owner who should have to pay for these outstanding repairs due to neglience at factory.
Noticed loud rattle when starting engine. Took to mechanic who told me the motor mount was bad causing the engine to move when put in drive or reverse. Part is ordered. It is not held in stock.
Head gasket blew at 93000miles, engine was okay at this time. Vehicle was shaking when she turned her vehicle on. Dealership told her that the mileage exceeds. The head gasket failed again after being replaced.
Vehicle had a blown head gasket/ water pump failure, and cracked radiator. Manufacturer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not cover for extended warranty due to the engine size 3.8L, not a 3.0L.
While traveling on the interstate, the engine temperature gauge began fluctuating back and forth. I stopped the car and checked under the hood and found the car to be overheating. Vehicle was allowed to cool down and coolant was added. Continued on to destination without further incident. Vechile was taken to a Ford dealer in Arkansas to pinpoint problem. Was told that the head gasket had failed.due to problem with the 3.8L engine, Ford would fix at no charge. Repair took over a week resulting in myself and family having to return to Florida by other means and having to return to Arkansas the following week to pick up my car. Despite this problem being covered under an "extended warranty" Ford offored no assistance for the inconvience/expense we went through, even though they knew we were from out of state and the vehicle was promised to be repaired before we had to return to Florida. A subsequent complaint was filed to landers Ford in little rock, ar and to the director of Ford's vehicle service and programs dept. Both letters were unanswered/ignored. Vehicle ci again losing coolant (5/24/2000) and will be taken back to the dealer in dothan.
Engine overheated, took to repair shop, head gasket failed, was after recall date (Dec. 98) was told no maximum mileage by Ford customer service. Later Ford changed date but put a lid of 100,000 miles. Have contacted Ford several times to no availe. I feel this is a problem that has nothing to do with the mileage of the vehicle but a design problem that should be reimbursed to the customer.
Was driving vehicle when odor of anti-freeze came through air vents inside of vehicle. Took to mechanic who indicated possible heater core or head gaskets causing problem which is or could be reparable. Meanwhile owner has to continually add anti-freeze to vehicle to prevent it from heating up.
