Bought the car for $8,000 in Dec. 1998, had 54,000 miles, purchased 2 yr warranty, within 1 year both the headgaskets and tranny went. ford replaced both, picked up the car, new tranny was bad, 10 miles down the road I was heading back to the dealer. they put in another tranny n/c, 24 months later, BAM! new tranny bad, decided against another junk ford tranny, purchased $3,000
Jasper Tranny, 75,000 mile/3 year warranty. The only thing good on this car is the engine, and now that is starting to go bad. in the years that I have owned her I have replaced the water pump 3 times, fuel pump 2 times, Fuel relay once, head gaskets where replaced but are bad again, Now at 125,000 miles the engine is losing oil pressure. this is the first and last ford I will ever own, I would junk her but I have so much into her now I cannot. Everything started to go wrong at 60,000, $500 here, 2 months later another $400, 2 Weeks later antoher $300, I had so much into her that when the tranny went I felt obligated to keep driving her. the sad thing is, the car is great! I love almost everything about it, except for the money I put into it. The car I had before her was 20 years old, and 275,000 Miles (Chevy). We had the card checked and double checked prior to purchasing it.
Buyer beware, the new ones are NO BETTER!!!Ford is using the same tranny and engine as the older models, they market it to the American family then screw you with poor parts that do not hold up.
