The fan had started squeaking intermittently for about two weeks. Was going to the shop in another week, but as I came home from work, bad smell and smoke from hood. I parked, popped the hood and the whole fan assembly was on fire. We were lucky it didn’t catch the house on fire or blow up while I was in it! This is a total loss, I’m sure... and with how old, I will probably not get enough to even put a down payment on something else.
