Trouble with all warning lights on on the dash. Ford dealer service dept. reported extreme rodent damage behind the dash. They stated the wire harnesses couldn't be accessed to be replaced, so they over-layed the damaged wires with new or repaired (spliced) wiring. They had the vehicle in their care for 5 weeks.

It appears that since Ford went with wire harnesses covered in a soy based product, there is a severe increase in reported damages due to rodents.

Three months later we noticed the radio doesn't work (don't normally use it). Returned the vehicle to the Ford dealership and was told there was more rodent damage for $2,000 additional in damages. Perhaps they missed it the first time.

The vehicle has only been parked outside 2 nights ( not 2 nights in a row) since it was repaired the first time.

When this happens my dash lites up like a Christmas tree and screams out an loud annoying tone. This happens only when I stop. It goes away when the sensor unfreezes itself, or clears out the snow, or some other kind of magical moment happens. Not sure what it does to fix itself either or how/what is causing them to fail. So far as I can tell though, it's always the outer corner sensors that fail.

But what makes it a pain in the ass? Well if it hasn't fixed itself you may find you can't start your truck. And that's a pain-in-the-ass moment to be sure. Especially when you're running late for work as it is. It was at this moment I started to regret buying this truck. About the time I found the number for the dealership the truck finally started.

I'm not a big fan of all these gee-whiz gadgets that all the magazine reviewers say we need to have. And things like this make me even less fond of them. It's just more stuff to devalue a vehicle when it gets old. I just hope this lasts 10 plus years before stuff hits the fan.
