When I pay over $30k for a 3 year old vehicle, I expect it to last longer than 5 weeks. Travelling to an event away from home, so I was 250km from home, and 100km from a major centre when, without any warning on he dash, ie NO warning lights and NO change to temperature gauge, the car stalled. It was towed to that nearest major centre, costing me $700. Then the dealer I bought it from (who were not in that town, but 450 km away), decided to deal with the issue themselves, it took them 3 weeks to decide that though. Then it took them 12 weeks to get it back to me. Two asides to all this I guess are: 1) I live 400 km from where I bought the vehicle and all trading was done by phone and email. Stupidly I did not ask enough questions, signed paperwork, emailed it back so that I could head up there and pick the car up quickly. To then be informed as I collected the vehicle that it had already had a motor renewed at 67,000 km, was a little disturbing, however I felt that I had signed up for it and was prepared to take the risk. 2) I did not receive any service manuals with the vehicle at the time of purchase, was told that paperwork would be forthcoming. Nothing so far So, vehicle returned to me, and I drove it 200km, lifted the bonnet to find coolant all over the motor, again. It was a Saturday, so u can imagine they really didn't want to deal with me, however after some hassling, service people met me at the centre (it was towed there), and find that one of the top hoses had been installed incorrectly. After that, the vehicle ran well for about 19 months. Two months ago, another hose rubbed through, lost all the water and coolant, blew the head up - again, no warning lights or change in temperature. I know hoses deteriorate over time, but by the looks of this particular hose, it must have been joined or altered in some way - or is that normal to have joins in radiator hoses these days?
