A 2009 Ford Ranger was purchased as a replacement for a Toyota Tacoma that was subject to the manufacturer buy-back program for defective frame steel resulting in excessive corrosion. The 2009 Ranger has now failed the Vermont vehicle inspection for excessive frame rust in several locations. This Ranger has 34,000 miles on it and may not be repairable (will be determined in the near future by the regional Ford dealership.) in my opinion, a vehicle with 34,000 miles should not be presenting this level of corrosion. Please investigate this defect.
Notified by person driving behind me my spare tire was going to fall out. Stopped and had someone look at it and the bed of my Ford Ranger had rusted out and if I hadn't stopped it would have fallen out on the highway. We examined under truck and the whole back bed is rusted out.
