Ranger has had the same issue for years. I have owned 4 rangers and every one is prone to rust. The latest is the 2006. Under carriage is a mess. Frame has severe rust issues, shackles have been replaced and frame rusted through in spots. I drive 5000 miles a year and have owned it from new. Ford knew and does know about the rust on rangers but unlike Toyota will not address the problem. Maybe it is better if they do not bring the ranger back in 2018. Like all car makers the bottom line is the buck. Good luck getting this fixed.
