This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Started having problems with brakes 3 mos after purchase. At 4230 (7/1/00) miles the shoes & pads were replaced & front rotors machined. At 7989 miles (9/16/00) the rear brakes were replaced & front rotors machined again. At 11085 miles (12/11/00) the front rotors were replaced. At 14672 miles (2/22/01) front rotors were cut. At 18224 miles (5/2/01) rabs valve, master cylinder, front pads all replaced & front rotors replaced (again). At 32457 miles (1/14/02) front pads need replaced (again) & front rotor needs to be machined (again), rear drums were machined. All repair orders refer to the rotor surface as being "uneven" or "out of round".
Rotors and pads replaced after 6 months of purchase. Then, again after 3 months due to grinding noise and extended stopping distance. Currently, an independent mechanic found this was due to calipers being faulty, rotors and pads need replaced again at this time. Consumer stated rims and tires were also replaced, specific tire information was not given.
Was driving 55mph & vehicle would drift left when brakes applied. Took to dealer & nothing found. Drove some more & problem was getting worse. Took it back & service manager indicated problem was with the brakes. It was drifting left. Also, would drift when steering was released & shaking. Tires were found out of balance. Firestone, wilderness ATX, 0235/75R15. Right front tire went flat & was informed ran over a nail, but it could not be produced.
They do not wear even, and do not stay balanced! unsafe design, how do I get them replaced? I fear for my family!!! (tiresize: 245/65/16)( dot number: Tire size: 245/65/16 )
Vehicle pulled to the right or left when applying brakes in a sudden/emergency situations. Also, pedal pulsated when applying brakes, and became worse when applying brakes at higher speed. Vehicle has been in dealer's shop. Dealer informed consumer that nothing could be found.
