1999 Ford Ranger with a 3.0 v6 and auto tranny, approx 83000 miles on motor. 4WD. Stepson was driving from home in Montana to Spokane, Washington -- 250 trip. After fueling up 120 miles into trip, truck engine began to clatter loudly as he was accelerating up an on ramp to the I-90 interstate. He continued to drive it for approximately 10 miles when the engine began to lose power and rattled to a stop. Vehicle was towed to Washington (Harrisburg) where it sat until it could be looked at (Memorial Day weekend). Mechanic could not get the engine to turn over or even budge. Engine is seized and he suspected the oil pump had failed as there were no visible signs of issues. Oil was clean and up to the full mark on the dipstick with no water emulsification. Had vehicle towed back to house and will start tearing it down to find out what happened. Very unimpressed with this motor and the upcoming costs to repair!
