A loud humming or howling noise comes from somewhere in the front part of the engine. The problem has been been since the first day( 6 years ago). It is random , but seems more noticeable when waiting in line for more than a few minutes. Pressing the gas pedal seems to make the noise go away. Sometimes it happens at speeds below 20 mph. Three mechanics have looked at it , but don't know what the problem is . They suggested putting it on the diagnostic machine for a fee of $100. It might be from the alternator or water pump , although after 6 years the alternator and water temperature gauges don't show any abnormality. The fan belt and Thermostat were changed . It is tuned every 2 years with spark plugs , Air filter and Pcv valve. Oil and filter are changed every 3000 miles. The check engine light has been reset 3 times , but within days or hours; it comes back on.
