While driving, the rear driver's side tire separated without warning. As a result, the vehicle vibrated violently. Suddenly the consumer heard a loud noise and the tread had separated and was banging against the body and frame. The consumer pulled over and changed the tire, the accident caused some body damage.
Replacement equipment on Firestone, Wilderness AT tires, size 265/75R15 with fourtythousand miles on them tread separated. Dealer has yet to be contacted. Consumer stated all 4 tires were replaced.

Consumer has 1995, Ford, Ranger pickup. All 4 tires had to be replaced because consumer was traveling about 60mph & tires felt like they were skating all over the road. Consumer replaced them at a service station & found they were out of round. Tire size P235/75R15 dot#unknown. They were the original tires with 47,000 miles.
Received notice 00T005000/ manufacturer's recall 1704550 & contacted manufacturer. Was informed tires prior to notice & exchanged between 1/1/00 & 8/31/00 would not be done. Owner had tires exchanged prior to receiving notice & seeking reimbursement. Had problem with tires due to tread separation. Firestone ATX, P235/75R15.
PE 00 020/tire tread separation: Right rear tire experienced a blowout while traveling at 20 mph with driver only in a 1995 Ford, Ranger, original equipment, P215/70R14, dot# unavailable. Please feel free to provide any further details.
Identical problem with the Firestone ATX tire happened to us, where we heard a big sound while driving, almost lost control of the car where it almost flipped over but didn't as we were able to use all freeway lanes to regain control of the truck (there were no cars around us at that time). We pulled over and discovered a rear tire tread separated from the tire in a big way.( dot number: Tire size: P235/60R15 )
While driving (65) mph on interstate, about 80% of the tread separated from the tire on the right rear, causing $2,100 dollars of damage to the wheel well and the side panel of truck. Driver was able to steer truck off the road safely. Tire was a Firestone radial ATX, size P235/75R15 M+S tubeless, dot # vnhl1mo090, tire had only been on vehicle about two weeks before failing, it was a spare and did cause damage to vehicle.
