This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The contact owned a 1995 Ford Ranger. While driving 35 mph, the contact's vehicle was involved in a crash with another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt pretensioner failed to operate as intended. As a result, the contact suffered a fractured C7 and T5 vertebrae. The contact was transported to the local hospital and then to uva medical center to seek medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent facility. A police report was filed. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the office of chief counsel would respond within 15 days. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
