This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Air conditioner compressor main shaft broke off and fell into engine compartment hitting the fan. If I was travelling at highway speed while this happend, it would have stalled the engine. I asked Ford why this happened & they said it happens sometimes. This seems to be a defect in the shaft of the the air conditioning unit. It could not be repaired except for replacing the whole A/C unit. This has cost me $858.21
The air conditioner clutch and compressor died at what seems to be a premature age. The cost for parts and labor came to $908.19 not to mention the value of my time getting it fixed.
