Oil pump has been replaced three times, because of a faulty design, so the dealership claims. This has become a costly repair, and I know many other Probe owners varying from 1993 to the 1997 models with the exact same problem. Many of us have also experienced defects in the factory paint, including but not limited to cracking, fading and crow's feet.
The vehicle stalls when at a complete stop, in neutral. This can cause a serious accident if the vehicle stalls in the middle of an intersection. The dealer was informed of this problem two days after purchase and said that the spark plugs were defective. The plugs were changed by myself, but the problem still exists to this day. The car unexpectantly stalls at least two times per day. The valve cover seals are defective. They cannot withstand the heat of the engine. Once again gary barbera's was informed of the problem and refused to fix the problem.
When trying to start up vehicle, it is very hard to start. Vehicle is running hard, and will cut off and stall. But, vehicle idles high when consumer is driving.
