My NEW Ford Mach E electrical vehicle was a door stop for 2 weeks at the Ford dealership as the only technician fully capable of servicing electrical vehicles was on vacation. After storing my car on the dealership lot for 2 weeks, they tell me the problem is due to rodent nesting. Undisclosed to me, the wiring is apparently very tasty to rodents. This issue is of course not covered by warranty. Whether or not the rodents accessed the vehicle in my care or while at the dealership.
I will now have to treat the car regularly to ensure no rodents take residence again. Rodents dining on wiring is, I understand now, a well known issue. I don't yet have my car back to know the full cost but estimate is currently $2K. I don't understand why this isn't a class action suit as it could lead to very serious incidents if not deaths (and I don't mean just rodents). As well, I was given a ICE vehicle as a loaner for which I had the additional cost of gas. I would expect to be given an EV as a loaner if I am having an EV serviced.
