I purchased this car new from a Ford dealership in Epsom (Just south of London) The car is 4 years old and spends most of its time in my garage (with a mask on due to covid - joke) which is why the mileage is so low. The car has been serviced exactly on time each year and has now been MOT'd in accordance with UK law. Once Ford replaced the faulty battery after 3 months under warranty it has worked fine. In January 2013 I came out of a shop to the car and got in, started the car and the dashboard remained completely blank. All other functions on the car are working, but it remains completely illegal to drive with no speedo or any other digital information. For example, I have no way of knowing how much petrol is in the car, I can only tell that the indicators are working by walking round the car to check - same with the lights.
It took Ford a few weeks to respond to me over this. Their initial attitude was not particularly user friendly and I only really got a reaction from them when I explained how I had discovered that a few thousand cars in USA all had the problem. So they then replied with an apology blaming internal people for errors in paperwork...... and arranged for me to get the car to a dealership to be checked - after 3 months. This has now been done. The garage phoned me direct and said the instrument cluster had failed completely and could not be reprogramed and had to be replaced. It got worse, I was told the UK has no stock of Mustang Instrument Clusters and it would have to be sent from Germany. This info is now somewhere in the offices of Ford UK Ltd while they decide who is going to pay for this failure on a car with 15K+ in miles and as of yet no acceptance of responsibility has been admitted for something that appears to be 'Not Fit For Purpose' I am hoping that Ford will see that this car has not been tampered with and has genuinely failed in its day to day function.
