I just made my last car payment on (Bought Brand New) 2015 Mustang Eco Boost. I am the only driver and it has 73,000+ miles. My AC has been intermittently blowing hot air, so I added Free-On when the issue first began, however last month it would not accept any free-on. It is HOT in South Texas, so without AC I cannot drive my vehicle. AUTO NATION Ford did pick it up yesterday and today advised me that is needs the Evaporator Kit which is $1300.00 BUT they have to take my Dashboard off so the LABOR COST is $1500.00-Total $2800 Plus Tax!
I have NO extended Warranty so I have to eat the cost of this plus new Brakes/Pads, A Tune UP and Battery Terminal Clean Up from Corrosion ?? I am still waiting on another RECALL PARTS for Back Up Camera. Anyway, the cost of everything is 4460.00 PLUS TAX - This is SO BAD, I wonder if it is even worth it. This is my first experience with Ford, as I was always a Chevy girl and never had ANY problems. When I looked on line, it appears this AC Problem is prevalent in 2015 Mustang Eco Boost. Does anyone know about that and have any suggestions?? Should I just get rid of the car? Am I in for more problems with this car? The car is in PRIMO condition, however is this five grand in repairs only the beginning?? I lost my job last year, so the timing is not good. Any feedback and/or suggestions are welcome. Thank you-Janet
Update from Jul 26, 2023: I was supposed to get my car today, BUT I am now that after replacing the AC Evaporator System for a cost of $2800, they now need to replace the Condenser also at an additional $1100!!!
I am disgusted! I see this is a common problem with 2015 ECO BOOST Mustang. Is there anything that can be done to address this? It is costing me close to 5 Grand to repair this. AND shouldn't the FORD Mechanics have known that I needed a Condenser? It has been a week of keeping my car to put the Evaporator in and NOW they realize I need a Condenser? I had told them I needed a condenser and they said NO-it needs an Evaporator.
