I was attempting to pull out of a parking spot. Turned the car on and put it in drive. The car would not accelerate or go above 2000 RPM. I had to put the car in park, turn the car completely off and turn it back on.... It then drove fine..... Part 2 of 5

I was driving on the highway, where speeds are 70 MPH, I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden my car lost all power. I kept trying to go with my foot on the gas however it was just making loud noises and would not actually propel the car. I had to quickly swerve off into a ditch to yet again avoid getting hit. This time I had enough after watching my life flash before my eyes. I took it to a Ford dealership to get a diagnostics test run. I already knew what was wrong with the car just by looking at prior complaints however I wanted to be sure.

....It just confirmed that it was the electronic throttle body (SOMETHING THAT FORD WAS FORCED TO RECALL ON NUMEROUS OTHER VEHICLES) that went bad. They charged me $300 for the DIAGNOSTICS and wanted an additional $800 to repair the ETB. A complete ripoff. A quick google of the parts (CX-2409,

AT4Z-9E926-B) show they are no more than $90 total.

I created a case with Ford informing them of the cause and the previous complaints of the faulty part and they refused to pay. I will definitely be calling the North Carolina Consumers Council (the group who initiated the last ETB recall for Ford) as well as the NHTAS on Monday to lodge a formal complaint.

This is an extremely dangerous problem that Ford is aware of and neglected to resolve. Loosing complete power in the middle of a highway is dangerous and creates not only an issue for me but any other drivers on the road.

Mustang LS 3.7L

  • Manual transmission
  • 10,253 miles

Was going to work. I was on the 5th gear when I tried to accelarate more because of a hill, but engine did not want to. I downshifted to 4 to try to accelarate, but same story. I then lost complete power of the engine which caused it to stall. Battery light came up, oil light came up and engine light. I then loss complete power of the steering box. I could of done an accident!!! I had to turn and I almost wasn't able to!! Mustang was towed to a Ford dealership, after now 2 hours of checking what is the problem, they still have no idea.

Update from Feb 15, 2017: I got an update from Ford, after inspecting for 3 hours the engine, they found out that the oil smelled gaz and that the sparkplugs were black. The day after, they told me the engine is done and that it needed to be replaced by a new one. Since my car has a modification, they say i will have to pay for the new engine, but this seems to not explain the failure of the power steering.
