Takata recall. I keep getting these reminders to have airbags replaced. Only problem is my dealership keeps saying they don't have them. I have been trying to get in before April. I have been told when they come in I will get a call. Also was told that it was unlikely mine would rupture. This is my 17 year olds car. I want them fixed but dealership doesn't seem to be in any hurry. We reside in san antonio,
Takata recall: Received recall mar2016. Contacted Ford dealer regarding fix. I asked him 1. is the car safe to drive. His answer was the NHTSA said it was cleared to drive. 2. is it ok to have a passenger in the affected seat. Same answer as in #1. 3. when will the part become available" no clue. He actually said it could be years since takata was bankrupt and they were looking for other manufacturers to make the part. The NHTSA website states recalls are issued when equipment creates an unreasonable safety risk or fails to meet minimum safety standards. Since the Ford dealer stated that the NHTSA cleared vehicles under this recall as 'safe to drive', could I get it in writing that my vehicle is safe to drive" I also live in Florida where the 50% increase in probability exists due to temp and humidity. Also, could you please explain why only the passenger side airbag is subject to exploding and not the drivers side.

I have called several Ford dealerships to have my takata air bag recall service and they all say there are no parts and I have to wait for months to get an air bag part. When I call the national Ford customer service line, I got through the phone tree and chose takata air bag which hung up on me after 5 minutes of dead air. This is unacceptable behavior from an auto manufacturer with a recall ongoing.
Takata my car has different manufacturing issues including the convertible roofing it does openly by itself, I got scared and chocked the first time it happened, also the transmission seemed to sent a lower speed to the motor. Airbag didn't explode in a crash. Driving is when it happens.
