I am the owner of a 2011 Ford Mustang. When it had less than 20k miles on it, during June of 2014 I noticed blistered paint on the front of my hood. Closer inspection revealed no less than nine separate areas of this defect. On July 28th, I took it to Genesee Valley Ford in Avon, NY. They photographed it and said they will contact the company rep to see if Ford will cover some part of the repair. I was also told this was a common problem and has been for many years. On August 14th, I received a call from Steve DelVecchio at Genesee Valley Ford. He told me Ford will not pay any part of the repair. Thus, I own a low mileage vehicle slightly over three years old with visible corrosion which will cost over $600 to repair.
Since a simple Internet search also proves this has been an ongoing issue for several years, I must ask why this has not been corrected and how Ford can justify neglecting its customers simply because it took slightly over the three year warranty to develop?
This is the second Ford I have recently owned and unless the company stands behind their product, it will definitely be my last.
I feel since this has been a known defect for over a decade and Ford refuses to remedy the situation, the only solution left to protect the consumer is a class action suit.
