I bought a used 2010 Ford Mustang Gt around April 20, 2014 at a Ford dealership. The vehicle had 37,749 miles on it and it was priced right so I thought it was a great steal. During the paperwork signing the agent recommended the extended warranty package, so I decided to take it. Good thing I did. I rarely drive the vehicle to work because I work in the oilfields and don't want to mess the vehicle up. So it is not an everyday car.
About a month after purchasing the vehicle, I noticed while driving in reverse I had to apply the accelerator just to get the vehicle to move. I did not think much of it at first, until a few days later my wife told be she had a problem getting out of the garage with the vehicle. A couple of weeks later it happened, I started the car up, let it idle down, then put the vehicle into reverse. The vehicle appeared to want to move forward instead of reverse. I placed the vehicle back into park then reverse again. This time the vehicle struggled to move backwards, when applying the accelerator the vehicle made a loud sound with a big bang, as if I just had hit something. I immediately placed the vehicle in park, got out of the car to examine the damage I made but yet there was none. Put the vehicle back into reverse and I heard a loud knocking coming from underneath the vehicle and it continued to struggle out of the garage. Placed the vehicle back into the garage and schedule an appointment with the local Ford Dealer. The vehicle drives fine in drive.
I was given an appointment two weeks from the time I called. The vehicle drove fine when I drove it to the dealership, ran with no problems. I informed the service agent of what I experience with the vehicle. Ford kept the vehicle for 3 days. I was informed that the vehicle ran fine, they had found no problems.
After picking up my vehicle on a Friday, I went to a local gas station to fill the gas tank. While exiting out of the parking lot I had to reverse due to over crowding, and the vehicle starting acting funny again. I thought to take the vehicle back at that time but it was 530 on a Friday afternoon. A few months past I would only drive the vehicle once or twice a week. The vehicle started to struggle in reverse and started knocking, this time worst than before, I video taped it this time. The problem is intermittent it does not happen every time I go in reverse but when it does its frustrating.
I video taped the problem two additional times made another appointment with the Ford dealership, showed the service agent the videos, he stated he would look into it. After a day of running test the service agent informed me that they can not do anything to my vehicle unless they can duplicate the problem.
I had this beautiful Mustang GT for almost five months now, I've only put 1200 miles on it. This is crazy. Shouldn't the videos be enough evidence? Would going to an transmission shop void my warranty? Or should I continue to drive it until the transmission fall out?
