I have reported this to ford and My extended had just expired and even though the car is garage kept and has only 8000 miles on it I was told too bad it's not covered.I took the car to two different dealers and both thought it would be repaired and was surprised they wouldn't stand behind the defect.So much for the SVT on the car and all the talk about quality
Here's the hood problem, and I'm still waiting for the parts to come in to have my airbags fixed/replaced. Shelby's aren't cheap either!!! Seems the bubbling on the hood is getting worse. Cannot show the car in this condition, nor will my insurance cover it as it's not damage from an accident. I think Ford needs to either fix it, or replace it.
I thought I was one of a few, but thru my own looking into the paint situation, I have found out that it is many. As usual the "BIG" corporation is cutting corners so as to make a bigger profit at the expense of the unknowing consumer. Now the question is "WHAT CAN WE THE CONSUMER DO?" Is there in-fact a "silent recall" or are we beat down once again?

I have a 2009 Ford Mustang 3.9 Liter with about 45,000 miles. I purchased the car two years ago and at that time it only had 29,000. Three months ago I noticed the paint was bubbling/blistering on the edge of the hood near the latch. Now the paint is peeling off and the hood is beginning to corrode. I have done nothing to the car that would make it susceptible to this type of damage; the car is garaged most of the time. A car with 45,000 miles, and only 16,000 which I am responsible for should not be corroding. Because Ford Motors had knowledge of this issue back in 2004, it should have taken reasonable action to prevent such problems from reoccurring. They need to own up to it and stop hiding behind their legal team.
I had a similar problem with my 2000 Ford Mustang. I guess that's what I get for purchasing another Mustang.
This is a flaw in the manufacturing process, out of warranty, have had problems with dealership already not worth the headache they will give me (run around) to not fix anyway. Started small and getting worse (expanding), some of the paint has now cracked off.
Just totally disgusted because I take excellent care of my Mustang and I would have never thought this would have happened. AND I have an estimate of $700.00 for paint repairs!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just want it fixed and I believe Ford should be responsible for this repair to the hood.
I found this around Xmas of 2013, my 5 year warranty on the paint was up Thanksgiving. It may have been there while I was under warranty and I didn't notice it. I contacted my dealer, then Ford, and opened a claim that was denied because of out of warranty.
This is sad as I am a Chevy girl and had their paint problems I decided to go to a Ford. Big mistake. this is my 2nd problem that I get no assistance with.
I was reading thru here, just curious after I noticed this problem with my Mustang. I just noticed it yesterday, and I see where someone else had the same problem. The paint is starting to bubble up under the front edge of the hood. I bought this car new and I do not have any chips where this is happening, it looks like its happening all the way across and starting to work its way around to the outside of the top of the hood. The car is under warranty still and after reading the book it says that corrosion is under warranty for 5 yrs.
I'll be taking it to the dealer in the next couple of weeks....Ford had better take care of this, 2 yr old car should not have paint starting to bubble up and peel!
Update from Jan 6, 2012: I took my car back to the dealership where I bought it and they did take care of the problem free of charge. They told me that they see this problem a lot and that Ford is aware of it Its because they use aluminum hoods and the paint oxidizes. So if you are having this problem and your car is still under warranty you should be able to get it taken care of. I am going to keep my eye on it and hopefully it won't start doing it again somewhere else.

2009 Mustang convertible hood and gas cap areas started peeling paint. Best I could do was sand the areas and use touch up paint. Looks lousy.
