What a mess. No matter what I do to keep this vinyl glued, it comes apart. Yesterday we took it to an auto upholstery shop and they told us they can glue a piece of material in the panel, but it wouldn't look pretty because they could only put it "up" to the edge. (space too small to fit in). They were going to charge $50 a panel. They also said they get calls every week regarding the 2009 Mustang.
I did try several methods to get this resolved myself. We were told what kind of glue we needed and a few days after gluing both panels were apart after parking in the Texas heat all day. I screamed a lot. Each time I re-glued, I had the same results... it came apart. The last time we tried, the left door stayed glued except for about 2 inches. So I took thin rubber roping (used for screens) and glued it around the edge to hold the remainder of the vinyl up. It was a nice snug fit. And this morning it was on my seat. I think it's the work of Gremlins..or worse. The right side has stayed up. For the right panel, I just glued the edge and then took a black shoelace and pushed it in the edge. It has stayed nicely, and doesn't look bad either. Of course this is just quick fix.
What are we all going to do about this? This should be a recall issue. These panels were definitely not cut correctly. Why hasn't this been addressed by Ford? There certainly are enough of us around having this problem...AND, what does this do to trade in value?
